Two-factor authentication, or 2FA for short, is an additional security layer for your Passfolio account that goes beyond the use of simple usernames and passwords. If you enable two-factor authentication on Passfolio you will be required to provide a temporary login code in addition to your username and password when signing in.
In this post, we will show you how to set up 2FA for your Passfolio account using Authy in order to further protect your account. You can also use alternative 2FA apps such as Google Authenticator if you prefer.
Authy is a two-factor authentication app that provides temporary login codes for signing into your account. To enable 2FA on Passfolio, follow these steps:
Open the Passfolio app > Access the account tab > Go to “settings” > Select “authenticator setup” > Enter current password
Note: You can also set up 2FA on the web (https://web.passfolio.us/signup) by going to settings and selecting “Upgrade to app-based security”. You will then be asked to enter your password.
Open the Authy app > Select “Add new account” > Select “Enter code manually”
Note: If you are setting up 2FA on the web you can choose to scan a QR code or enter the code manually. Passfolio will also provide you with backup codes which you should store somewhere safe in case you lose access to your current device, for example.
Passfolio strives to implement industry standard security measures. Your password is never stored in plaintext - it is hashed using the industry-standard BCrypt hashing algorithm. Sensitive and private information such as your social security number are encrypted before they’re written to disk. All of our apps, websites, and servers securely communicate using the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. For account login we require multi-factor authentication. Our mobile app supports TouchID, FaceID, or a custom pin code for unlocking.
